Truth and Grace

There are many churches that exist today across our country. They range from small bookstore/backyard gatherings to large mega churches, with schools and programs, with hundreds of in between. However, each fall into one of three categories.

One category would be churches that preach Truth only. They are the churches that go to the extreme to preach what is right, looking to convict everyone coming down the pike. Some would call them “old school,” or closed off in today’s genre. They are usually smaller in size, but not always, because many do not want to be accountable.

Then, there are churches who preach nothing but Grace, which is the second category. They preach all about grace and forgiveness. They hide from conflict for the sake of being seeker friendly, drawing numbers, yet have no accountability. These churches are larger and are easy to slip in and out of because it’s fluffy. The sad truth is this-many go because there is no challenge.

Then there is the last church- what I call the hybrid. It is a mixture of Truth and Grace. This church type is the John 4 model of church. In John 4, Jesus meets a lone Samaritan woman at a well. She was there to gather water and Jesus engaged her in conversation. He shared with her about giving her living water that would never run dry. He was talking about Salvation. Jesus was offering Grace.

He then engaged her in Truth, by challenging her to go and get her husband. She claimed to have none and yet she was having relations with other men. Jesus challenged her. He challenged her to change and because she did, not only her life changed as she believed on Jesus as Messiah, but so did many others.

The point of this is to cause us to pause and decide how we must be in life. If we are to be Christ followers, or Christ-ones as the name Christian implies, then we need to be about both Truth and Grace. We need to challenge sin, but we need to forgive others and show them love. What church do you go to? Are they all about truth? Are they all about grace? Or do they operate in both. Love and accountability are the staples of good, righteous, Christian living, and Jesus modeled that for us. Let us be about both in our walk with Christ. And, if you have no church, come and see, just as the Samaritan woman challenged others, come and see us… We’ll tell the truth and love you as well.

We Want to Win theLost

Matthew 28:19 – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”

Our mandate as Christians is to take and share the Gospel, “The Good News”, to all people, young and old, known or stranger, regardless of culture or color. We take this seriously at Living Waters. Acts 1:8 says to us, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”. We have been empowered by the Holy Spirit to share the love of God and the truth that Jesus is the only way to Heaven. We are compelled to go out and bring others to the House of God. Luke 14:23 says, “Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled’.” Join us to help share the Gospel with others.

We Want To Serve Others

1 Peter 4:10 -“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace”

Service is at the heart of Christianity, and Jesus modeled it for His disciples and for us as well, in John 13:15-16, saying, “15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. 16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.”  Hebrews 6:10 says, “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them”.  As Christians we are gifted to serve others.  We should place our needs below the needs of others.  Christian service, at Living Waters, is regarded as service to widows, the poor, the homeless, the sick, the lonely.  Giving of self is key if we are to show and share God’s love.  Our testimony as changed people is personified in our giving of ourselves to others.  Mark 10:45 tells us, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”   Come join us as we serve others in love and joy.

We Want to Live a Life That Loves God

Mark 12:30 -“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.”

The Word of God tells us that God loved us enough to send His Son for us, to die for us to provide a sacrifice for us. He loves us. We love Him because He is our lord. We are called as Christians to love God. Being children of God, we should have love in our heart. It is part of the character of God and so we should emulate Him and love others, and most importantly, love Him. 1 John 4:7-8 says, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” Jesus called out for us to love God and so we should. We encourage it, we believe it, and we love Him freely. Proverbs 8:17 tells us, “I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.” Join us in seeking God, following God, and Loving God.

Our Vision

Our Vision

We seek to reach all people with the truth of God’s Word, care for and help our fellow man, teach and train every generation about the ways of the Lord

Mark 16;15 says, “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”
Romans 15:1 says, “We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.”
Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
These are core pieces to carry out the mission God has given to us. Preach/Teach the Gospel, Care and Serve for others, and Train and Equip those who would be of the service of God. These are what we must do and our desire is accomplish all of these, for the glory of God.
